6.2. Policy Revisions
6.2.a. Policy 5114 - Suspension and Expulsion/Due Process - First Reading
Rationale:
This policy has been revised due to the change in Connecticut Legislation relative to In-School Suspension. The current policy referenced the effective date of in-school suspension as July 1, 2008. The change in this policy now states that the effective date of in-school suspension was set by the Connecticut State Legislature, therefore reducing the need to revise this policy each time the legislature changes dates. Other minor changes were made in the policy as recommended by the Board of Education attorney.
6.2.b. Policy 6140 - Curriculum Design/Development/Review - First Reading
Rationale:
This policy and regulation are being revised to comply with a new state statute, Section 10-220e which requires that “Each local and regional board of education shall establish a school district curriculum committee. The committee shall recommend, develop, review and approve all curriculum for the local or regional school district.” Our process of curriculum committees completing the curriculum development/review/revision process and then presenting the new curriculum to the Student Achievement committee of the Board and then to the full Board is in compliance with this new statute.
