Description:
All speakers are asked to complete the Listening Session Sign-in Form including as much detail as possible and including a printed / written copy of your presentation if one is available. This is an opportunity for the Board to listen, the Board will not engage in dialogue. As a general rule, the Board will not comment on or respond to any comments made by speakers. Please do not include names of Greenbush Middle River employees or representatives, their title, or location in your remarks for your own legal protection and the legal rights of staff.
Each speaker will have five (5) minutes to speak: speakers may not roll their time to another speaker. Speakers will be timed and are asked to complete their comments in this time frame. Board members may ask questions if needed. Please begin your presentation by stating your name and topic only. Description:
GMR Art Teacher Mrs. Aune was featured on Minnesota Public radio the week of August 29, 2022.

Description:
Accept $2,500 donation in memory of Terry M. Howard by Carrie Jo Howard & Family to be directed towards a proposed softball restroom / storage / press box project.

9.1. School Board Sub-Committee Report on a proposed Outdoor Restroom & Storage & Pressbox building)
Description:
During the regular August Meeting board members (A. Harder, B. Ignanzewski and C. Howard were appointed to a Board sub-committee to attend a Sept. 7 meeting about an outdoor restroom / storage facility adjacent to the softball field(s).
Board discussion took place as a Report agenda item during the regular September 19, 2022 School Board Meeting. Mr. Christian made a presentation to the Greenbush City Council on September 20, 2022, Note: Mr. Christian made an initial presentation [request for funding] to the Greenbush City Council in Sept. 2021. A special Greenbush City Council meeting was held on Oct. 6, 2002 to address the Reconstruction Bathroom Facility Project. attached (Additionally, an outdoor restroom / storage facility adjacent to the softball field(s) was included in Agenda item 12.5 during the May 16, 2021 regular School Board meeting.)

10.1. Assurance of Compliance Annual Reporting
Description:
All school districts must complete an Assurance of Compliance with state and federal law and verify Mandated Reporting training by November 15 each year. GMR submitted its Assurance of Compliance online the week of August 29, 2022.
By completing all sections of the Assurance of Compliance and Mandated Reporting, school districts provide written assurance that they do not discriminate in their use of funds provided through the Minnesota Department of Education and that they have informed all mandated reporters of their reporting duties. Mandated reporting training to GMR staff (25 licensed staff and 16 unlicensed staff) was held on August 30, 2021. This assurance is given by each district in consideration of and for the purpose of obtaining any and all federal grants, loans, contracts, property, discounts, or other federal and state financial assistance extended to the district by the U.S. Department of Education and the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). MDE no longer requires a paper copy of the Assurance of Compliance certificate. However, it is important to note that by submitting the Assurance of Compliance online, that you are verifying that the Superintendent is electronically signing this assurance on behalf of the school board. Though the paper copy is no longer required, the approval of the board is per Minnesota Rule 3535.9910. 10.2. Board Approval of World's Best Work Force Annual Report
Description:
Principal Schultz will provide the required student achievement report to the Board. In accordance with MN Statute, the 2021-2022 Combined WBWF Summary and Achievement and Integration Progress Report is posted on the school’s website.

10.3. Approve MSHSL grant application to offset Student Activity Fees:
Description:
A motion was made by Board Member____________________, to adopt a resolution by the Governing Board of Independent School District No. 2683 Greenbush Middle River, Minnesota supporting its FORM A application to Minnesota State High School League Foundation. The motion seconded by ____________________
WHEREAS, the Minnesota State High School League Foundation was formed to provide support for Minnesota’s high school youth to participate in athletics and fine arts; recognizes the value of student participation in extracurricular activities; and WHEREAS, the Governing Board of Independent School District No.2683 Greenbush Middle River, Minnesota recognizes the value of student participation in extracurricular activities; and WHEREAS, the MSHSL Foundation is offering grants and funding to assist schools in recognizing, promoting and funding extracurricular participation by high school students in athletic and fine arts programs supports the school’s application to the Minnesota State High School League Foundation for a FORM A grant to offset student activity fees. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Governing Board of Independent School District No. 2683 Greenbush Middle River, Minnesota Adopted this 17th day of October, 2022.

11.1.a. MN Rural Education Association site visit to GMR School
Description:
On Thursday, Sept. 29 at ~10:40 am Mr. Bob Indihar, Executive Director of the MN Rural Education Association (MREA) visited the GMR School as a part of a state-wide tour of MREA member Schools. He was in the GMR School from ~10:45 am to ~noon to gain insight on the issues affecting rural schools. Mr. Indihar met with Supt. Guggisberg, Principal Schultz, GMR-EA representative (M. Gust) and the Greenbush Tribune.

11.1.b. Canvass the Ballots of the School Board Election held on November 8, 2022
Description:
The Board must pass a resolution to canvass the results of the November 8 General election between the third and tenth day following the election (November 11, 2022 and November 23, 2022). The County Auditor's Office in each county in which the school district is located in whole or part and the MN Dept. of Education must be informed of election results.

Description:
7th grade students will be attending the Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center in Finland, MN October 24-26.
Wolf Ridge is an accredited residential environmental school located on the North Shore of Minnesota.Their nationally-recognized curriculum stimulates a connection with and understanding of natural environments. Instructors involve students in the direct observation, inquiry, and exploration of wild forests, wetlands, lakes, and streams. Their curriculum aligns with state academic standards, Common Core, and Next Generation Science Standards. |
